This year, though, I'm still making cooked food out of summer tomatoes, because my favorite tomato farmer taught me something: you can freeze tomatoes whole! I bought a box of tomatoes from him, rinsed them, stuck them whole into plastic bags, and froze them. The skins come right off when you want to use them.
