I definitely have cravings like that every once and awhile. I find it quite odd. Usually I’m not much for American comfort classics and then all of a sudden I’ll get a craving for meatloaf or some sort of casserole.

denise — you should definitely give it a try! The salad is on the rich side with the 1000 island, bacon, and egg, but it makes a delicious and filling main course

I have not had this for at least 23 years. My mother made it with imitation crab and it put in place a bias that would last until I saw this post. I think I’ll have to give this dish another chance, your version at least!

Jen, this looks like a really wonderful combination of tastes and textures–salty, spicy, a little sweet and crunchy, smooth, juicy. Nice work!

Can you believe that I’ve never eaten a Shrimp Louis salad. Perhaps it is time for that to change.
