Although, it does require some planning ahead. I don't even have my own garden, and I've managed to freeze and can quite a bit of summer's bounty. It might not get me through the whole winter this year, but it's my first go-round. And I don't choose to eat exclusively local, either. If I can buy it locally, I do. Then, I buy what's in season (there were oranges in my shopping cart this week). And this week I struggled with salads. I just decided I've gotta have 'em. So I find the most responsible ingredients I can! We do what we can! I can assure you that we New Englanders don’t have to be relegated to eating only potatoes and turnips this time of year.
