Nearly two and half years ago I started this blog with a lot of enthusiasm for cooking and a just a little knowledge about website design. Fast forward to today, and I decided to utilize the things I’ve learned about website design and give Modern Beet a shiny new look!
The main motivation behind the change is to make Modern Beet’s content more accessible and easier to navigate. Instead of one long ‘tube’ of posts, you can now easily navigate via categories that represent some main topics of Modern Beet:
- Veritable Vegetables
- Preserves and Pickles
- DIY Recipes (think homemade tofu, homemade cheese, etc)
- Homemade Sausage and Meat Cookery
- Recipes from Around the World
- Weeknight Recipes
- Weekend Projects
- Most Popular
Some of the older posts may appear a little ugly — please forgive this as I finish the transition from the old site design to the new one.
If you have any feedback or suggestions, good (I love it!), bad (I like the old design better!), or other (burrata is my favorite cheese!), I would love to hear it.
And thanks again to EVERYONE who has been reading over these past two and half years! If I’ve made you smile at least once, then I’m satisfied with my work :)

Very fun. A new look is awesome after awhile, just like a new coat of paint or a new duvet. I loved the old look but know I will like this as well.

Kelly – Thanks! Something must be in the air, because I am doing the same thing at home — new coat of paint, redo my bedroom, etc. etc. It’s very refreshing!

Looks great–and what a feat! I know that re-designing can be daunting and it’s certainly something that I know is a mountain ahead for me. Congrats!

Kasey – Thanks! a little at a time, it actually wasn’t too bad. Your site is great now, but good luck if you decide to redesign it at some point! And btw, the crispy duck looks awesome — great photos too

Denise – thanks! I actually got the idea from some cute tea towels on Design Sponge: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/04/to-dry-for.html
I may just have to get the beet and carrot ones…
